The first half of the Albanese Government’s Closing Loopholes Bill was passed on parliament’s last sitting day in 2023, bringing significant changes on matters such as labour hire, criminal liability for underpaying workers, and the rights of union officials and delegates. Join Professor Andrew Stewart as he reviews some of the key items on the government’s reform agenda and their likely impact during 2024.

Andrew Stewart is the John Bray Professor of Law at the University of Adelaide, Adjunct Professor with QUT’s Centre for Decent Work & Industry, and a consultant with the national law firm Piper Alderman. A pre-eminent expert on employment law and workplace relations, and a past President of the Association, he has decades of experience in advising employers, trade unions and governments at all levels on legal and policy issues.
